The ban on beef - Is it justified ?

President, Pranab Mukherjee, has finally passed "Bill Maharashtra Animal Preservation" 1995, which prohibits the slaughter of steers and bulls in the state of Maharashtra. There were mixed reactions after 20 years that the old law was passed. When Congress supported the action, NCP did not look very happy about the impact the project could have on people. The bill to ban beef states that anyone found with beef or sale can be imprisoned up to five years and penalized for Rs 10000. Let's see how the act is judicious. If beef was banned in Maharashtra?

Yes Support

- It was going to end the unrest related to the cow and bull slaughter. It will look like a legal and non-religious infringement. The lines are clearly drawn.

- Animal rights would be entitled for such acts.

- Slaughter cows is banned in Maharashtra since 1976.The prohibition extends steers and bulls, which can be slaughtered certificate and permission. An extension of the bill is absolutely justified.

- It is essential to respect the feelings in a pluralistic democracy. Most Hindus consider cows and bulls slaughter as a sin.

- It will encourage people to turn to vegetarian or vegan. It will also encourage state to ban the slaughter of other animals.

Do Not

- A large number of people involved in the industry beef will be unemployed. These people could engage in illegal trade.

- Meat is a cheaper source of protein compared with other forms and prohibition that would deprive the poor section of the same.

- The ban is only in the meat of the water buffalo that the burden of farmers rearing them. It had been an alternative source of income for them.

- There will be losses in the export business as much beef exports will be affected by the ban.

- Several industries like Pharma will be affected because many of their products involve ingredients such as fat buffalo.

- State has no right to impose a certain culture of food in any way in people. If it does, it becomes a theocratic state.

- The livestock economy is hampered. There will be no one to feed buffalo, cows or bulls, which are neither flesh nor useful for agricultural purposes.

- Do not do anything about imported beef. There are many restaurants that use beef Angus US and Australia.

Conclusion

Are you telling people to stop drinking milk just because it comes from a cow? It seems to be the same case here. People should have the right to eat what they like.
